Job Description

AECOM 's Environment Team is actively seeking a Junior-level Environmental Planner to join our Impact Assessment and Permitting Team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This position will integrate into a well-developed team of environmental scientists, ecologists, and engineers to provide support on various infrastructure and development projects across a range of sectors such as mining, transport (road/rail), water/wastewater utilities, renewable energy, and oil and gas.

We are looking for a candidate to assist with data input and analysis, technical report writing, regulatory permitting submissions, public and stakeholder engagement, and presentations. We are seeking a highly motivated and accountable candidate that works collaboratively with other team members and is an effective communicator. Organizational skills and ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment are essential qualities. This is a permanent full time position reporting to the Impact Assessment & Permitting Lead in Winnipeg.

As part of our team, the successful applicant will assist in environmental work and deliverables throughout a project life cycle (environmental assessment, permitting, construction and post-construction support), including:

  • Working with and supporting the team of technical environmental specialists in preparing provincial and Federal environmental impact assessments and various environmental permitting / approval applications for infrastructure/development projects.

  • Support in the identification and assessment of environmental features, constraints, project components and alternatives, potential environmental effects, mitigation measures and monitoring.

  • Assist the project teams in the preparation of technical documents to support regulatory approvals.

  • Assist the project team in the planning and coordination of project activities such as environmental field work and public engagement events.

  • Collaborating with technical and professional staff across the company in completing assignments.

  • Coordinating, preparing for, attending, and documenting project meetings.

  • Some field work and overnight travel may be required to service project needs of the client.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years of relevant experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related areas (e.g. Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Studies)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience.

  • Strong analytical, planning, organization, problem solving and time management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills as this role requires continuous interaction with team leaders.

  • Ability to express ideas logically, clearly and concisely; function effectively as part of a team; maintain discretion and confidentiality and work in both field and office environments.

  • Class 5 driver’s license.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $55,000 - $80,000.
