Job Description
AECOM 's Environment Team is actively seeking a Junior-level Environmental Planner to join our Impact Assessment and Permitting Team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This position will integrate into a well-developed team of environmental scientists, ecologists, and engineers to provide support on various infrastructure and development projects across a range of sectors such as mining, transport (road/rail), water/wastewater utilities, renewable energy, and oil and gas.
We are looking for a candidate to assist with data input and analysis, technical report writing, regulatory permitting submissions, public and stakeholder engagement, and presentations. We are seeking a highly motivated and accountable candidate that works collaboratively with other team members and is an effective communicator. Organizational skills and ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment are essential qualities. This is a permanent full time position reporting to the Impact Assessment & Permitting Lead in Winnipeg.
As part of our team, the successful applicant will assist in environmental work and deliverables throughout a project life cycle (environmental assessment, permitting, construction and post-construction support), including:
Working with and supporting the team of technical environmental specialists in preparing provincial and Federal environmental impact assessments and various environmental permitting / approval applications for infrastructure/development projects.
Support in the identification and assessment of environmental features, constraints, project components and alternatives, potential environmental effects, mitigation measures and monitoring.
Assist the project teams in the preparation of technical documents to support regulatory approvals.
Assist the project team in the planning and coordination of project activities such as environmental field work and public engagement events.
Collaborating with technical and professional staff across the company in completing assignments.
Coordinating, preparing for, attending, and documenting project meetings.
Some field work and overnight travel may be required to service project needs of the client.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
2 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in related areas (e.g. Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Studies)
Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years of relevant experience.
Strong analytical, planning, organization, problem solving and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills as this role requires continuous interaction with team leaders.
Ability to express ideas logically, clearly and concisely; function effectively as part of a team; maintain discretion and confidentiality and work in both field and office environments.
Class 5 driver’s license.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $55,000 - $80,000.
