Environmental Ambassador

The City of Mission is seeking a part-time, time-durated Environmental Ambassador to join the City's Environmental Services team. Employees in this position play a key role in educating residents on the City’s environmental initiatives including: water conservation, climate change adaptations, recycling and waste management, and wildlife attractant management.

You will represent the City of Mission’s Environmental Division at public events with promotional material on City environmental initiatives and waste management programs, respond to basic public inquiries regarding environmental initiatives, directing more complex matters to appropriate staff as necessary, and develop, source and customize educational materials under the general direction of Communications & Public Engagement. This position also provides mentorship to annual Environmental summer students and assists in developing summer student works plans.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates need to have a high school graduation or equivalent along with completion of recognized environmental courses. Some related experience in an environmental stewardship or public education/engagement field is required. The successful applicant also needs to possess a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License.

Additional Information

The 2024 hourly rate for this CUPE position is $25.75 per hour plus 4.4% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, other paid leaves, fringe benefits and premiums.

This part-time time-durated opportunity will start in May for approximately one year with the possibility of extension. You will work a variety of shifts including some early mornings, evening and weekend shifts. Shifts will be up to 7 hours per day and 3 to 5 days per week depending on operational requirements.
