Scope
The City of Surrey has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Equipment Operator 4 – Flush Truck. This regular full-time position is responsible for driving, operating and light servicing of a tandem axle vacuum machine.
Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance tasks and keeping records. Vacuum and flush sanitary sewers, storm sewers, catch basins, streets, main lines, inspection chambers and streets. Inspect manholes prior to commencement of vacuuming and flushing and remove roots and other debris from the mains. Conduct pre-trip inspection of equipment including checking oil, fuel levels, tires, lights, lubricating and safety operations. Provide direction for those working with the equipment. Assist crew members in performing their duties and respond to trouble calls and inquiries from the public. Operate and drive equipment and perform manual work in all weather and traffic conditions. Drive a tandem axle dump truck, including winter maintenance equipment, such as snow plough, salt spreader, and brine unit.
Qualifications
Completed Grade 12 or GED Have previous experience driving and operating experience on a tandem axle vacuum machine or similar air brake equipped trucks. Possess a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and a safe driving record. This position involves completion of a Police Information Check.
Note: the hours of work are 7:30am to 4:00pm or 3:30pm to 12:00am (midnight) Monday through Friday, depending on weather conditions.
