Other Information: 7.5 hrs/day until June 27, 2024. The role of the K.A.P. Instructor is to work with Kindergarten
aged students providing them learning opportunities and experiences necessary to foster holistic development
through a play-based approach.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements child-centered emergent curriculum following a holistic developmental approach that
outdoor learning on the land)
- Develops culturally appropriate and inclusive programming; plans for and supports diverse needs and
- Fosters a play-based approach and creates and maintains the classroom environment
- Collaborates with divisional ECE Program Coordinator, school administrators, kindergarten teacher, and
- Develops materials and shops for supplies as required.
- Completes daily observations on students including programming needs, strengths, and interests.
- Documents student learning.
- Attends Collaborative Program Meetings (School Based and Division Based).
- Takes part in professional development.
- Communicates with caregivers.
- Directs assistant as required.
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education Diploma Level 2 or 3 is required
- Knowledge of child development, emergent curriculum, and play based approach to pedagogy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Physically capable of engaging in a busy classroom and outdoors
- Able to multi-task competing needs of groups of children
- Knowledge of inclusive practice and multi-cultural perspectives

Salary & benefits for this position will be administered in accordance with the agreement between the applicable
employee group and the Seine River School Division.
