Position Overview:
The Event Setup role requires the successful applicant to work as a part of the Special Events operations team to efficiently and accurately setup and tear down events, according to the provided floor plan. The key responsibilities of this role is to setup eventware and decor: tables, chairs, linens, table settings, glassware, tidy and stock multiple guest areas, linens, vases, candles, specialty signage, furniture, decor installments, backdrops, draping and additional decor, and complete light cleaning and teardown duties as required.
Job Functions:
- Move and set up tables and chairs in the banquet space and on the patio, according to the floor plan.
- Setup small decor items, such as candles, vases, table chargers, dessert stations.
- Fold napkins, set tableware and glassware, polish as needed.
- Hang, dismantle and fold drapery, assist in the setup and tear down of backdrops.
- Setup, dismantle, maintain, and fold linens.
- Set up large decor items such as decor installations, event furniture, signage, as required.
- Complete cleaning duties to ensure pristine banquet space: wiping, tidying, operating the dishwasher, polishing, organizing glassware, sweeping and mopping, as needed.
- Assist in restoring the event spaces and warehouse to event-ready condition.
- Communicate with managers, supervisors, and setup staff.
- Perform light cleaning duties; sweeping, mopping, removing garbage, operating the dishwasher, as required.
Requirements:
- Completion or expected completion of high school education.
- Knowledge of banquet practices is an asset.
- Reliable transportation required.
Skills/Abilities:
- High attention to detail.
- Time-management: ability to work efficiently, both independently and as a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to perform physical tasks during an extended period of time such as lifting at least 25lbs, standing, bending and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to exert well-paced mobility to maneuver between two-room set ups occurring simultaneously.
- Capable of manipulating a dolly and using a ladder, with training.
