Events & Social Media Intern3 Month Position.

Candidates must be returning to post-secondary education in the fall of 2024 to qualify for this role as per funding agreement.

This position is available subject to funding approval.

The Events & Social Media Intern will work closely with the Development and Communications Coordinator and the Community Development Specialist to foster and evolve the ongoing summer animal welfare education outreach program at the PEI Humane Society.

This position involves coordinating and communicating with community members and partners to organize and deliver educational outreach programs and presentations to groups Island-wide.

This job involves driving to off-site locations regularly so successful applicants must have their own transportation and be comfortable transporting presentation materials to and from presentation sites.

Outreach programs are not limited to presentations but could also involve appearances at community events or public locations to engage the community in our messaging.

This position also requires a working knowledge of Social Media. Successful applicants will create marketing materials to be approved by the Development and Communications Coordinator for distribution on PEIHS Social Media accounts and website.

Educational Requirements Include:

- Post-Secondary Education (ongoing)

Role Requirements:

- Provides excellent customer service

- Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and with a positive attitude in busy public settings

- A high-level of competence and reliability when working with minimal supervision

- A high-level of understanding in SEO, Social Media Marketing and current trends

- Ability to life over 50lbs

- Access to reliable transportation (mileage is compensated at the provincial rate)

Educational outcomes for this job include:

- Experience in and introduction to Social Media marketing for non-profit work

- Experience in and introduction to communications

- Operational experience in a medium-sized non-profit organization

- Fundraising experience

- Presentation and coordination skills

- Training on Adobe suite of products as well as other video and photo editing software

Successful applicant must be returning to post-secondary education in the fall, have their own transportation and license, be a PEI resident and be eligible to work in Canada.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Contract length: 12 weeks

Salary: $16.02 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekend shifts required, some evenings.
