Job description

This position is to be the Executive Director of Calgary Minor Basketball Association. CMBA has been in Calgary for over 45 years. This position is responsible for the overall execution of the CMBA organization. Below are some examples of what the job entails.

League Structure –Will work with the CMBA Board, Executive and Associations to develop and maintain league structure and team placement.

Team Leadership / Management – is responsible for the management of the Operations Coordinator, Book Keeper and any other paid office staff as assigned by the CMBA Board of Directors and / or Executive Members.

Facility Development – Attends facility operation meetings with assigned CMBA Executive Member as needed and any new development meetings to ensure CMBA interests are represented.

Scheduling & facility Bookings – Oversee all facility bookings and scheduling being managed by the Operations Coordinator.

AGLC (Casino General Manager) – Coordinates the placement, application and scheduling of the CMBA assigned Casinos.

Sportsmanship and Conduct – Assists the assigned Executive Vice President of CMBA responsible for the Sportsmanship and conduct committee along with members consisting of the Executive, Referee committee and other committee members as needed from members of the Association.

Office Management – Oversees Office Contracts, CMBA policies and procedures, Office Supplies, Credit Card Management, Cheque Signing, CMBA Equipment replacement and management, Trophies and Medals and oversees the Accounts Receivable and Payable and expenditures.

Score Clocks – Maintain and ensure placement of score clocks to facilities.

Budget Creation and Management – Work with the Executive, book keeper, treasurer in creating and maintaining the budget under Board approval.

Communication – Manages daily inquiries from the public and CMBA Members and manages inquiries from the Board of Director, Executive Committee and Coaches.

Coach Education Program‐ Is a standing member CMBA Coaching development committee working in conjunction of the assigned executive VP over coach and player development in developing and maintaining a comprehensive coach education program working in partnership with Basketball Alberta and/or maintaining a CMBA internal NCCP program. To continue to develop and maintain the CMBA Coaching Clinic as a baseline for volunteer coaches. Additionally, maintain the “Respect in Basketball” online resource.

Rules Committee – Will assist the assigned Vice President of the CMBA Executive in reviewing such rules and policies and helps communicate the rules and policies to Association members. Is also responsible of posting the updated rules and policies as needed on CMBA web site.

Referee Education – Liaises with referee committee, attending committee meetings, assisting with the organizing of Jessica Thiedemann Tournament and other opportunities in mentoring of CMBA officials

Referee Pay – Responsible for receiving weekly reports for Referee Assignor to ensure referee pay is completed ina timely manner.

Alberta Basketball Association – Works in conjunction with the CMBA executive members on the Basketball Alberta’s Executive.

Communication – Acts as the main point of contact for all related CMBA business and operations.

Team Registration – Communicates and manages the registration process including collection of monies.

Game Play – Ever Saturday must be available during league play to assist in any issues or problems that take place.

Web Space – Over sees the website and updates their related section on a weekly basis or as needed.

Social Media Management – Over sees all social media venues that CMBA is actively using. Ie. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

CMBA Meetings – Attend all CMBA Executive and Board Meetings complete with update to the board of Directors and Executive Committee. Meetings traditionally take place on Sunday evenings once a month.

Meeting Agenda & Minutes – Responsible creating all CMBA Agenda’s and taking minutes from Executive, Board and called Special Meetings and sending the minutes to the responsible members of those meetings within 72 hours.

Other Duties assigned from time to time

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Working remotely Mondays – Saturday (excluding one day as day off during the week).

Being available to visit Games on Saturdays during regular and Spring Season

Will be required to drive to locations where games are being played

EXPECTATIONS, CONDITIONS, CONSIDERTAIONS

Position is to work 4 week days and Saturdays during league seasons

Will be working remotely during the weekdays and must be available for contact between 10 AM – 6 PM

There will be some travel within the city required at which kms will be paid at $.65/km.

Three weeks “paid time off” during the year / summer as approved by the CMBA President will be given plus time off during Christmas as determined by the CMBA President and Executive.
