Experienced Flat Roofer

Heritage Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd is looking for Journeyman Roofers with experience in Flat Roofing to join our growing team in Nelson, BC for the Spring. An RCABC licensed, local family-run company who have been in the roofing business for over 35 years in the Kootenay region. We provide First aid, Fall Protection, Equipment Operator Training, and Roofing Apprenticeships. Applicants must have the desire to take pride in their work as we pride ourselves as being a top tier company. A positive "can do" attitude and an ability / desire to learn will ensure success.

Essential function and responsibilities:

• Execute Low Slope Roofing services while working under the direction of a site foreman who maintains / oversees the quality of work
• Strong understanding of a variety of roofing systems
• Maintain customer goodwill by providing prompt, efficient and courteous service while promoting the company's business
• Participation in daily hazard assessments and weekly toolbox meetings
• Installation of specialized roofing materials and supplies
• Safely handle and store propane, torches, solvents, and adhesives
• Utilize clear lines of communication and treat others with dignity and respect
• Provide guidance and support to new workers
• Responsible for the safe use of all power tools
• Work within safety guidelines, and comply with WCB Safety Regulations
• Consult and collaborate with site Superintendents and General Manager
• Other duties and tasks as requested

Qualifications:

• Technical understanding of the product sold - Interprovincial Roofing Ticket is mandatory
• Good understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements for the roofing industry - must be up to date on the RCABC requirements
• Ability to motivate, direct, and train subordinates. Strong time management and organizational skills are required for the handling of high estimating volumes effectively under pressure
• A high level of interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills required
• Ability to negotiate with clients in potentially sensitive situations, retaining the clients' goodwill while achieving the company's objectives
• Ability to work effectively with little direct supervision as well as collaboratively with a team
• Computer skills an asset but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Wage dependent on experience: $30 - $35 per hour
