What do you offer?

The Facilities Cleaner must ensure a clean and safe YMCA environment that maintains Y standards and meets member expectations at all times. The successful candidate will demonstrate a personal commitment to and understanding of the Y’s mission, vision, and values.

This position is for Sunday, Monday and Friday afternoons.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Providing hands-on cleaning services to the YMCA facility.
  • Ensuring prescribed cleaning procedures and sequences are followed.
  • Ensuring that proper cleaning products and tools are used according to directions.
  • Creating a strong and welcoming environment.
  • Being a contributing team member and sharing in the overall responsibilities of day-to-day operations.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Language

  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • 1 year of cleaning experience
  • Knowledge of cleaning products, materials, equipment and techniques
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work on feet all day

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
  • Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
