Farm Laborer

L.R. Playford & Son Ltd. is currently recruiting for a part-time egg packer and general Farm Laborer to join our team. We are a poultry operation close to Elmira, ON looking for someone to work in the barn and also to work in our egg packing room. The ideal candidate for this position is able to perform manual labor, work on your feet for 4-5 hours, and be able to lift up to 40lbs. We are seeking an individual who is reliable, honest, and able to adapt to a fast paced environment with repetitive tasks. You need to be comfortable working in barns with poultry, and work well with a team.

The successful candidate will work directly with the farmer and other employees to do general barn work and animal care as well as pack eggs and store them on site. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Gather eggs using an automated system

· Sorting and stacking eggs on skids and moving skids within the barn

· Working with chickens and following Animal Care Protocols

· Adhere to safe working practices; all PPE provided

· General cleaning/sanitation

· Excellent work ethic, positive attitude, cooperative

· Basic math skills necessary

This part-time position offers regular hours of work with no early morning or late night shifts. Must be willing to work every other weekend and holidays as required. Hours are from 12 - 5 and alternating weekend work is required. We operate on a continental schedule so alternating days in a 2-week rotation. There may be some flexibility to accomodate school or other schedules if needed.
