Longmire Farms is looking to fill a full-time seasonal position for seeding through harvest 2024 with potential for future employment. We are a family farm that plants and harvest around 8,500 acres of cereals, pulses, and oilseeds each year. The ideal candidate will have experience working on a grain farm and will be familiar with conventional grain production. Candidates should have knowledge of seeding systems, combines, agricultural software and GPS systems. 1A drivers license or commercial trucking experience and experience running high clearance application systems would be an asset. We will provide training on our systems as required for the right person. Will also provide excellent quality long handle screwdriver for unplugging runs that you can take home with you at the end of the season.
Must be attentive, mechanically inclined, able to service machines and implements at an acceptable standard. The job can be physically demanding at times, but you will be seated in a climate controlled tractor for a majority of the day. Supper is provided during the busy season. Participating in radio sarcasm is accepted but not required.
We are currently operating Bourgault seeders with John Deere tractors, Deere S series combines, and an R series high clearance applicator.
Employees will be expected to work 7 days per week during peak season, weather permitting. Usually 10-12 hrs per day. Days off are limited during the busy season but given as needed. Hours expected are typically 60+ per week in May, August, September, possibly into October. June and July hours are flexible.
For those who don't live in the area, accommodation is available in a newly built guest house with a full kitchen, laundry, utilities and internet.
