Responsibilities
•Splice and test Fiber Optic cables in all outside plant applications – aerial, burial and underground, on both newly placed and existing cables
- Analyze test results and have the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults or defects • Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans
- Work outdoors in various conditions to splice Fiber Optic telecommunication cables • Clean and maintain tools and equipment
- Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays
- Climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet • Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of splicing experience required
- Ability to interpret placing and splicing plans
- Holds a valid G license
- Able to complete the necessary training for working at heights and confined space, pass the corresponding examinations and receive a client authorization number as required
- Able to lift up to 80 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Competency in OTDR and other testing protocol
- Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements
- Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver’s abstract
