Field Biologist

About the Opportunity

Ecofor is currently seeking Field Biologists to join our team in Fort St James, Fort St John, Prince George, and Whitehorse.

This is a full-time hourly position; the wage range is from $30.00 – $36.00 depending on experience.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control).
• Travelling and working in remote locations for extended periods of time.
• Liaising with regulators and clients to provide quality work that engages Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
• Primarily field-based role with both field and office tasks (e.g., data entry, daily and weekly reporting).
• Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor’s corporate culture

More About You

To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with at least 2 years of experience in a similar field.

Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered:

• 2 years of relevant experience in industrial projects (experience as a consultant would be an asset).
• RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designations are considered assets.
• Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection).
• Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, and work closely with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations.
• Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) and other relevant certificates are assets.

Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License.
