Position Overview
The Peace River Regional District invites applications for a 4 Month temporary/seasonal Field Services Assistant position starting May 1, 2024. The Field Services Assistants assist the Environmental Services Manager in performing various functions of the Environmental Services Department including but not limited to invasive Plant management, parks maintenance and solid waste program support.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Performing weekly inspections and maintenance of PRRD regional and community parks including mowing, whipper snipping, waste and recycling collection, and washroom cleanliness.
• Assisting with the communication of public education programs for the invasive plant, parks, and solid waste programs.
• Assisting in confirming reported invasive plant infestations and manual control of invasive plants.
• Maintaining records of al inspections.
• Assisting with projects and tasks assigned to the Field Services Department as required.

Qualifications
The ideal candidates will have experience with invasive plant identification and management, as well as parks maintenance activities. Familiarity with the local regional geography, is an asset. The successful proponents will need to possess valid Class 5 Drivers’ Licence, class 7 will be considered. A WHIMIS certificate is desired. Required abilities include working independently, travelling to remote locations, working irregular hours in all weather conditions, working in a team, and dealing with the public.
Additional Information
The regular hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with one hour for lunch.
The after probation rate of pay for this union position is $26.29/hr, plus 14% In lieu of benefits.
