Regular Full Time Position - (1.0 FTE)
This position has a yearly salary range of $87,529 - $109,411
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Services, the primary role of the Financial Analyst is to work with Yukon Hospital Corporation and its affiliates to prepare the Corporation's annual plan and to provide related strategic advice to YHC Executive and Board of Trustees. This includes:
Providing forecasts and analysis of: revenue, expenditures, and net financial position for normal operations and major project operations; and preparing annual budgets (O&M and Capital) and other associated budget and fiscal documents.
Throughout the year, the Financial Analyst, along with the Manager and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), monitors the risk and opportunities affecting the annual plan and provides objective, timely and relevant analysis, advice and options, and recommends fiscal management strategies to the CFO, Executive and ultimately the Board of Trustees.
Knowledge and skills required for this position:
  • In depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Practices including audit functions and requirements;
  • Knowledge of business practices and procedures;
  • Good working knowledge of computerized accounting and management information systems and ability to effectively use complex computerized accounting systems;
  • Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Outlook with advanced Excel skills;
  • Research, financial modelling and analytical skills;
  • Good communication skills both oral and written including the ability to develop and deliver training and orientation sessions;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to plan, organize and evaluate multiple tasks and make decisions in accordance with policies/regulations;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments within a self-managed environment;
  • Self-motivated individual and able to work independently;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
The successful candidate should have a degree in accounting or finance, and/or an accounting designation, as well as two (2) or more years of budgeting and or costing experience, preferably in a health care setting. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
