Job Description


First Cook (Part Time)

Do you have an appetite for career progression and ready to take your culinary skills to a world-class platform? Take your career to a whole new level with us and join our kitchen team.

What you will be doing:

  • Review daily production sheets with the Chef de Partie/Sous Chef and prepare the necessary food items in accordance with standards in a timely and efficient fashion with no interruption to guest service.

  • Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications in order to maintain consistency and luxury standards

  • Assumes responsibility for the operation of his/her station and ensures that opening, closing & hygiene procedures are carried out to corporate standard

  • Keeps overproduction and food waste to a minimum, ensuring proper rotation, labeling, and storing of food in order to maintain food cost controls.

  • Operates all kitchen equipment, conduct themselves with safety in mind, reporting any deficiencies in kitchen equipment and quality of food to Chef de Partie/ Sous Chef

  • Complete other job related duties as assigned by your supervisor

Physical Aspect of the Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift

  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs

  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting

  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps


Qualifications


Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum 3 years cooking experience in at least two different kitchen sections i.e. garde manger, banquets, a la carte, breakfast etc.

  • Experience in a luxury hotel with comparable service and standards an asset

  • Red Seal Certificate (Journeyman’s papers) or Recognized International Equivalent

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Aspires to become a Sous Chef with Fairmont Hotels and resorts

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents.
