Compensation

• Salary starting at $49,460.00 (will pay above minimum based on qualifications)
• Enrolled in United Church Pension and Benefits Plan

Work Hours

• 35 hours work week
• Hybrid position
• Weekend and evenings are part of the norm
• The church requires that Christmas eve, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday be workdays.

Workspace

• Private office in church (computer provided)
• Flexible workspace (church/home)

Position Summary

We are excited to add a new position to our staff team for the purpose of establishing a First Third Ministry at Sunnybrook United. The starting point will be making connections with young adults and families in the community. Our staff team will work collaboratively in an environment of equity, diversity, and inclusion. We are committed to working in the areas of social justice and reconciliation with all people. Our First Third Minister will bring their passion, education, experience, and communication skills to their work with young adults, youth, and children. They will use their creative energy to develop activities, events, programs, and worship geared to the needs of the community.

Skills and Attributes required for the position

• Enrolled in or completed Certificate in Child Youth and Family Ministry from Vancouver School of Theology or equivalent
• Knowledge and affirming of United Church of Canada Theology
• Is a baptized person

• Demonstrates energy & enthusiasm
• Possess excellent communication skills
• Have excellent IT skills, media skills, and software skills
• Evidence of project management
• Demonstrate team skills
• Desire to improve skills through more education
• Desire to grow with project as it grows
• Standard First Aid and AED
• Criminal check including Vulnerable sector
