SalaryThere is a permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) Floater Basic Custodian position available as immediately.
The home base school will be St. Marys D.C.V.I. School. This position will be deployed to replace absent staff in schools across the district, as well as to provide additional support to specific sites for special projects or to assist during peak workload periods. Appropriate mileage will be paid as per AP 515-Travel and Expense Reimbursement.

The Basic Custodian duties may include:
Building Cleaning
- operate and maintain all equipment
- perform all minor and major cleaning as outlined in cleaning checklists and Standard Operating Procedures
Building Maintenance
- change lights
- shovel snow
- operate snow blower
- clean and inspect roof
- operate grass-cutting equipment
- perform minor repairs
- conduct health and safety checks
The ideal candidate should possess:
- grade 12 diploma
- the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
- exemplary interpersonal, professional, and organizational skills;
- the ability to use a computer eg. GAFE;
- experience in handling machinery ie. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers;
- knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
- satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, 12 months per year (shift work is required)
Rate of Pay: $23.20 -$23.66 per hour in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement.
Mileage: Paid as per AP 515-Travel & Expense Reimbursement.

Pension Plan: Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)
