Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing healthy and delicious hot and cold food items in the Centre for Education's Café 1881, as well as supervising food preparation staff and maintaining safety and sanitation standards.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- developing menus, controlling costs, monitoring waste and managing inventory
- preparing hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch and catering services
- promoting and exhibiting safe food handling and preparation techniques
- ensuring proper cleaning and sanitation of kitchen and equipment
- preparing and setting up special events and catering services
- assisting the Manager with staff schedules, evaluations, customer and supplier relationships
- providing feedback to the management team on effectiveness of program initiatives
Education/Qualifications
- a diploma in Culinary Arts or Journeyperson certification
- a minimum two years related experience
- experience with menu development, cost control and staff supervision
- knowledge of baking, pastry and dessert preparation
- Food Safety Certification or equivalent
- First Aid, WHMIS
Rate of Pay
$24.48 - $31.18 per hour
