Front End Loader Operator (Heavy Equipment Operator)

S&R Sawmills has a long history of Custom Cutting in the Lower Mainland. We are a family run business that was established in 1963 and we currently have a workforce of over 300 employees on a large strip of the Fraser River. Role Description:

Reporting to the Shift Foreman, Loader Operator employees are responsible for safely operating the CAT 980 Front End Loaders, loading conveyer belts for the chip barge/scow and rigging of the barges.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Daily equipment checks, including fueling and checking the oil
• Loading chip conveyers with wood byproducts (chips, sawdust & hogg)
• Rigging of the chip scow/barge
• Obey all traffic laws and local bylaws
• Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Identify, protect, and report safety hazards to management or a member of the safety committee
• Follow all Safe Work Procedures
• Other duties as assigned by the Shift Foreman

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

• Previous experience operating Heavy Equipment required
• Experience with forest products considered an asset
• Valid BC Drivers License
• Physical demands require be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and strong command of the English language, both written and verbal
• Safety first attitude
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work (Mill is transit accessible)
• Must be able to do shift work (Day shifts are 7:00am – 3:30pm, Afternoon shifts are 3:30pm-12:00am)
