Description
The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill our Front EndLoader/Backhoe & Impactor Operator position in the Roadways Branch of the Department of Operations. Reporting to the Roadways Supervisor, this position will operate a City-owned combination Front end Loader/Backhoe & Impactor engaged in excavation and backfill of service connections and various other projects as required.
This position will perform the following duties:
- Perform required maintenance of the machine ensuring proper and safe working conditions by inspections clutches and brakes and reporting repairs
- Excavation and backfilling of new service connections, service connection leaks, sewer blocks, storm sewers, etc. to ensure safety when excavating around gas lines, telephone and electrical wires, service connections
- Observe traffic rules and regulations
- Ensure proper care, handling and operation of the machine in a safe and efficient manner Supervisor small crews of workers when required
- Instruct other in the maintenance and operation of equipment
Qualified applicants will possess:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the operations and maintenance of the relevant equipment
- Experience operating a Front End Loader/Backhoe & Impactor, holding a valid Heavy Construction Safety Association of Saskatchewan Power Mobile Equipment Certification for operating the Front End Loader/Backhoe & Impactor or minimum or two (2) years' documented operating experience
- Valid Class 3-A driver's license
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with others
