ROLE PURPOSE
Our Supportive Housing program provides safe and secure housing and wraparound supports to people at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness. This program offers 24/7 support services that are tailored to the self-identified needs and goals of each resident.
HOURS (40 HOURS PER WEEK)
Monday to Friday, 0800 – 1600

- Benefits are for Full-Time and Part-Time employees working 20 hours per week or more.
Custodial
- Performs routine cleaning of the building and grounds including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, scrubbing, and vacuuming
- Assisting staff with the preparation of rooms for new residents including pest control
- Cleans and disinfects building areas such as walls, windows, floors, carpets, air vents, furniture, washrooms, mattresses, and blinds
- Cleans external areas such as entrance ways, sidewalks, and parking lots to remove dirt, leaves, snow, and other refuse
- Collects and removes garbage and recyclable materials and ensures the safe disposal of hazardous materials
- Under the general guidance of the Program Manager and Property Coordinator assumes a primary or key worker role in making minor repairs and/or coordinating external contractors to perform repairs
- Maintain safety standards are established and ensured for the building and preventative maintenance tasks are performed
- Maintains lawns and yards as per guidelines and performs minor gardening and lawn maintenance tasks
- Monitors maintenance and housekeeping supplies
- Assists the Program Manager and/or other staff in the identification of potential problems and reports any difficulties
- Provides input to other staff, Property Coordinator, and Program Manager to address the needs of the residents
- Follows all relevant Connective policies, procedures, and guidelines
- When assigned, participates in social, recreational, educational, and other programs as appropriate to assist the resident’s case/care plan
- Supports the daily living of the residents with accessibility needs including cleaning of the suites, doing laundry, serving breakfast and dinner, and more tasks as required
- Assists with and/or conducts inspections of resident spaces
Participates in staff and resident/staff meetings
Other duties may be assigned from time to time
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to successfully complete Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records
- Ability to successfully pass a reference check
- Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
- Building Service Worker Certificate and/or vocational training is preferred
Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $21.54. Plus benefits enrolment as per the Collective Agreement.
Important: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
