Suncrest College welcomes applications for a full-time, Professional Firefighting Instructor(NFPA 1001). This is a term position from April 2, 2024 to August 2, 2024 (for 810 hours/135 days) in Melville, SK.
The Opportunity:
This position is primarily responsible for instruction of Professional Firefighter Qualifications (NFPA 1001) program for the College. The instructor must plan, teach, coach, evaluate and record student progress and supervise students in classroom and practical settings, including live burns. Part-time and full-time instructors are required for this program.
Requirements:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a relevant two-year post-secondary diploma or equivalent in fire fighter training from a recognized institution. This education would typically provide knowledge in program development, delivery and instruction. A background in fire fighter training is required.
- Required certification in International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC): NFPA 1041 Level I Instructor, NFPA 1001 Level 1 and 2, NFPA 1002, and NPFA 1072 Operations.
- NFPA 1041 Level 2 is preferred (or willingness to complete as professional development)
- The minimum amount of practical, related experience required to perform the duties of this position is five years as a professional fire fighter. This experience will demonstrate the skills required to instruct, develop and promote fire fighter training programs.
- Preference will be given to those with recent experience in a large urban department.
- Demonstrated experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
