Job description

SurreyCares Community Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organization that works with donors and other not-for-profit

organizations. Together, we connect, support and fund these organizations to uplift the people working and living in the City

of Surrey, British Columbia.

Fund Development, Communications & Administration

The Fund Development & Communications role requires a highly motivated and experienced professional who will be

collaborating on all aspects of donor relations, donor tracking, grant creation, communications, research and support our

fundraising efforts.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in helping us achieve our mission by ensuring a robust and sustainable funding

base. This role will also require attendance of community events and acting as a representative of SurreyCares Community

Foundation externally by engaging with media, fundholders, grantees, not-for-profits partners, and other key stakeholders.

Requested experience:

Donor Relations

• Work to build and maintain strong relationships with existing donors, ensuring timely and personalized

communication to enhance donor engagement and retention.

• Collaborate with grant recipients to gather impact stories and updates to share with donors, demonstrating the

effectiveness of their contributions.

Donor Tracking

• Implement and manage a comprehensive donor tracking system (SalesForce) to ensure accurate and up-to-date

records of all donor interactions, contributions, and preferences.

• Analyze donor data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for targeting fundraising strategies.

• Prepare regular reports and metrics on donor engagement and fundraising performance to inform decision-making.

Communications

• Work with the Communications Committee to support a strategic plan that engages donors, prospects, and the

wider community.

• Work with the Fund Development Committee to create compelling fundraising materials, including appeal letters,

newsletters, annual reports, and impact statements.

• Utilize various communication channels, such as social media, email marketing and website content to promote

fundraising initiatives and engage with stakeholders.

Additional skills:

Research

• Work with the Executive Director, conduct prospect research to identify and evaluate potential major donors,

corporate sponsors, and grant opportunities.

• Provide in-depth analysis and recommendations on prospective donors, including their giving capability,

philanthropic interests, and alignment with the organization’s mission.

• Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support cultivation and solicitation strategies for

major gift prospects.

Who are you?

• A strategic thinker with a passion for the philanthropic sector

• Working both autonomously and collaboratively to achieve operational excellence.

• Expected to receive Bachelors degree with a preference for a related field (non-profit management,

communications, or marketing)

• Experience in the not-for-profits fundraising is preferred.

• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making coupled with

the ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and effectively.

• Exceptional writing, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and

external stakeholders at all levels.

• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

• Proficiency in using donor management software and CRM software (Salesforce).
