Your Role:
As a Fundraising Prospect Researcher at Bespoke, you’ll be working alongside a dynamic team of experts dedicated to empowering non-profit organizations to thrive. This isn't just a job – it's an opportunity to shape the future of the social profit sector (we prefer social-profit over non-profit because the work our clients do is exceptionally PROFITABLE to the social fabric of our communities). Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will play a crucial role in identifying, researching, and evaluating potential donors to support our organization's fundraising efforts. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Apply Methodology – Utilize various research methods and tools to identify and qualify potential donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and other entities.
  • Compile Information – Conduct comprehensive research on prospects' backgrounds, wealth indicators, philanthropic history, connections, and interests.
  • Evaluate Information – Determine prospects' capacity and inclination to make significant contributions to our organization.
  • Propose Actions – Provide strategic insights and recommendations to inform cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for individual prospects and donor segments.
  • Maintain Records – Maintain accurate and up-to-date prospect profiles and records in the donor database.
  • Support Pipeline Development – Collaborate closely with the development team to prioritize prospects and support fundraising initiatives.
  • Stay Current – Monitor industry trends and best practices in prospect research and fundraising.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer

Required Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field.
  • Proven experience in prospect research, fundraising, or related roles within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and information effectively.
  • Excellent research skills and proficiency in utilizing various research tools and databases.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with fundraising principles and practices is preferred.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values.

Bonus Competencies:

  • Bilingual/multi-lingual (French preferred).
  • Business writing/report writing abilities.
