Customer Service Representative / Labourer

The position of Mover is on call, roughly 8-24 hours per week with the availability of flexible hours. Starting rate of $17 per hour, including training, with ability to grow.

Applicants must be friendly, professional, neat in appearance, have good hygiene practices, be physically fit, trustworthy and dependable. All positions with South River Storage & Rentals are subject to a mandatory probation period. Letter of conduct will be required, for successful applicants. Must be able to start as soon as possible. Must have own transportation to and from South River, NL. No experience required but training or skills in the following areas would be considered an asset:

- First Aid Certification,

- ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted and in a gentle fashion,

- high school diploma or equivalent, and

- valid provincial drivers license and ability to maintain a good driving record.

The main tasks for this position will be to travel locally to provide moving help services to our clients, both residential and commercial. We will be required to lift large, bulky and often heavy items, in a gentle fashion. Taking care not to damage the clients’ belongings or their home. Requirements of the position include:

- Ability to greet customers in a friendly manner,

- Ability to use manners when speaking to customers,

- Ability to protect and move customers belongings with a high level of respect,

- Answer questions and educate customers as required, and

- Other duties as assigned such as cleaning and organizing.

Essential Skills:

- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. routinely,

- Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling,

- Customer Service Mindset,

- Security awareness including a keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information,

- Must be clean, neat in appearance, physically fit, dependable and trustworthy,

- Written / verbal communication skills,

- Ability to work independently with basic tasks,

- Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress,

- Familiarity with common power and hand tools,

- Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines while ensuring attention to detail,

- Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner, once trained,

- Communicating candidly and professionally with customers (as required), building trust and repeat business, and

- Abide by SRSR and industry safety policies and procedures including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment.

Provided On-site Training:

- Successfully participate in moving help training course,

- On-going training must be completed as required.

Work Environment:

The workplace provided is a happy and safe environment that is free from any and all discrimination. The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, uneven ground, traveling up and down stairs, positioning oneself to reach objects at varying heights, some usage of tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.

South River Storage & Rentals is a local business providing moving and storage services to the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland. We are a local resource for DIY movers and offer storage solutions including heated storage, commercial storage, indoor boat, car and RV storage. We are a U-Haul dealer and offer Moving Help services to the Avalon Peninsula. Our facility is located on the Southern shore of Bay de Grave, visible from the Conception Bay Highway thru Clarkes Beach and accessible via Salmon Cove Rd in South River.
