Job Description

Reporting to the VP Operations/COO, the role of the Garage Manager to effectively and efficiently manage the development and direction of the parts and service team to drive the growth of revenue, technical productivity and promote high quality satisfaction for company operations. Reporting to the Garage Manager, this position's responsibilities will also include the assurance of accurate parts control, sourcing and costing, as well as the management of all staff, resources and inventories. with a dotted line to the Fleet Manager, the Fleet Administrator II is a key part of the administrative team and provides a variety of support to the operations managers for the different lines of business and to support overall fleet management.

Responsibilities:

-Oversee and manage the body shop, vehicle maintenance and parts department's operations and scheduling.

-Manage quality assurance - setting quality standards, maintaining quality of all garage activities.

-Ensure completion of body, shop maintenance and repair work

-Advise mechanics of work that must be completed

-Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.

-Oversee and direct garage resource and workforce issues for the organization

-Monitor garage performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary

-Responsible for appropriate staff levels to meet requirements of the shop

-Responsible for working with the VP Operations/COO and Human Resources department in recruitment, hiring, terminations and performance management

-Manage the morale in the shop by setting and demonstrating a strong business ethic for dealing with employees, suppliers and customers

-Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.

-Enhance and develop policies, procedures and service systems to meet the goals of the garage

-Monitor financial performance to ensure the garage is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitment

-Analyzes and report on the daily, monthly and annually department's key performance indicators and industry trends

-Measure and monitor key indicators of service delivered

-Oversee parts department to ensure efficient operations and service

-Overall customer satisifacatin for direct customer and internal key stakeholders/operations management

-Manage stock availability and inventory turns

-Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory counts

-Review and use the monthly Profit and Loss statements to ensure expense control and proactively planing service and sales goals.

-Examines reports (e.g., inventory, sales and daily reports) to determine the operational activities of the company and ensure optimum performance.

-Ensure that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures

-Maintain the cleanliness of the shop

-Performs other duties as required

-Experience with routine maintenance operations

-Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control techniques and procedures.

-Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment

-Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

-Able to work well under pressure

-Strong attention to detail

-Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times

Education and Qualifications:

-Red Seal Journeyman Auto Service Technician ticket

-CVIP licence preferred

-Valid driver's licence with clean abstract; Class 1, 2 or 4 considered an asset

-Previous experience in diesel and hybrid units

-Minimum 5 years or more years previous management experience in a technical environment with proven leadership abilities

Working Conditions

-Shop and yard environments with moderate noise, odours, and dust

-Lifting to 50lbs

-Frequent standing, walking, use of hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reaching with hands or arms

-Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

-Must have the mobility to easily access and move in and out vehicles and equipment
