General Accountant

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our team. As a General Accountant, you will be responsible for GL reconciliation, commission & rebates reports, variance analysis, sales tax filing, assisting month end and year end close and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of various reports including commission reports, rebate reports and any other analysis reports as needed.
• Monitor GL accounts and post monthly GL journal entries as required.
• Monthly GL account reconciliations.
• Be a key player with month end and year end close and related financial reporting.
• Assist with preparation of schedules and reports required for year end audit.
• Assist with monthly reporting to the bank.
• Accurate and timely filing of Sales taxes.
• Assist with banking entries such as EFT.
• Filling in as back up for the accounting clerks.
• Ad-hoc projects as required by management.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Experience:

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• University Degree / College Diploma in Accounting or Business is required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including general accounting experience in GL reconciliation, Variance Analysis and Reporting, Month end and Year end close
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles & practices
• Strong Analytical and Reporting Skills
• Attention to Detail in all areas of work with excellent numeric sense.
• Proficient with MS Office, advanced level of Excel skills is required.
• Effective Communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as outside the organization.
• Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
• Strong work ethics, dependable.
• A team player, willing to assist others without hesitation
• Experience with Sage 300 would be an asset
• Desire to learn the business and make a meaningful impact and contribution to the company

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
