General Labourer / Production Worker (job requirement to complete heavy lifting):
The Production Worker is responsible for the timely and efficient production of whole raw chicken products that are in line with Maple Leaf safety and quality standards as well as the customer’s specifications. The position involves heavy lifting and highly repetitive work, with a need for speed and accuracy. A high level of hand, upper-arm and back strength, and stamina is required to work in this area.
Here is a snapshot of the responsibilities:
- Shoveling raw product
- Lifting and carrying boxes
- Dumping bins/pails
- Standing for long periods of time
- Pushing tanks of product, or using a Powerjack
- Working with food production equipment
- Using knives to perform cutting and trimming
- Check and weigh materials and/or product
- Manually pack product into bags, cartons or other containers
- Feed cartons into machines
- Remove finished goods cartons from conveyer and place on pallets (manually)
- Check products and packaging for basic quality defects
- Physically capable of heavy lifting up to (25 kg/55 lb) repetitively
- Capable of frequent bending
- Ability to work within colder temperatures (6 degrees Celsius)
- Speak, read and write English
- Work well within a team environment
- Maintain attendance
- Must have own or reliable transportation (there is no public transportation to work site)
- Salary: Starts at $19.10/hr with eligibility for $0.60 per hour shift premium
