SalaryWe are looking to hire one (1) on call-supply General Maintenance Assistant for the Belleville Campus to provide maintenance and groundskeeping support at the Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf and Sagonaska Demonstration School.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:- Provide general preventative maintenance and repairs to buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment.
- Perform general plumbing, electrical and general facility maintenance.
- Provide general repairs to heating, ventilation, and fire systems.
- Provide general repairs to locks, valves, pumps, repair of windows, flooring, minor painting, and general touch-up work to furniture.
- Maintain the efficient mechanical operation of the swimming pool.
- Assist contract and government services tradespersons.
- Assist with implementation of work plan for summer students.
- Work on call hours as required.
How do I qualify?
Technical skills:
- You have demonstrated experience and general working knowledge of trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC systems, and electrical to assist with semi-skilled General Maintenance.
- You can determine proper methods and materials required for performing installation, replacement, repair, preventative maintenance, and construction work at the facility.
- You have proven mechanical aptitude and experience performing routine General Maintenance inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs of electrical, plumbing, small engines, appliances, furniture, fittings, and electromechanical systems.
- You know and have experience operating various grounds maintenance equipment such as skid steer loader, tractors, and riding lawn mowers.
- You have proven experience and can maintain efficient operation of swimming pool and related equipment.
- You have the ability to use hand tools and power equipment.
- You have experience maintaining work orders and preventative maintenance logs.
Other skills:
- You have developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- You have organizational, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills to manage daily operations and tasks.
- You have knowledge of and the ability to apply Occupational Health and Safety guidelines, such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), confined space, designated substances surveys, etc.
- You can move and set up furniture and equipment.
- You are able to read and follow simple drawings, blueprints, work specifications, including written and verbal directions.
