Job Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operation, management, and growth of the Chamber, and tourism services. As a primary spokesperson and advocate for the business community in Grand Bend and Area, the Manager plays a critical role in driving economic development, promoting local businesses, and fostering a vibrant business environment. The Manager collaborates with stakeholders, builds partnerships, and represents the Chamber’s interests at various forums to create a positive impact on the community and enhance the community’s business and tourism climate. This role requires a dynamic, visionary leader with exceptional communication and organizational skills, as well as a deep understanding of business, tourism, and economic development. The Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the strategic plan in collaboration with the Board to advance its mission and goals in alignment with its vision and values.
- Provide leadership in identifying business and tourism trends and advocating for the interests of local business community
- Review information from relevant sources (TSL, TIAO, OCC, Southwestern Ontario RTO, Retail Council of Canada, Huron County Economic Development, Sarnia Lambton Business Development) and summarize pertinent information for members e-newsletter
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders including recruiting Chamber members, onboarding, and providing relevant information to the membership
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Chamber, ensuring efficient delivery of programs
- Identify and pursue diverse revenue streams, including membership dues, advertising fees, sponsorships, grants, and fundraising opportunities
- Recruitment of new Chamber board and committee members
- Provide Board with balance sheet, revenue & expenses, bank reconciliation, accounts receivable outstanding resorts prior to monthly meetings
- Oversee the Welcome Centre, including managing Welcome Centre staff (1)
- Attend monthly board meetings, provide board with relevant updates and financial documents, take meeting minutes
Membership Development and Engagement
- Work with the Board to set and achieve membership goals
- Develop and execute strategies for retention of members, maintain an engaged membership base
- Deliver valuable programs, events, and networking opportunities that enhance member satisfaction (Golf Tournament, Member’s Mixers, Breakfast with the Mayor, Celebrate the Season)
- Provide timely support to members as needed via email, phone, or in-person
Communication and Marketing
- Develop public relations materials that increase Chamber’s visibility among stakeholders and community partners
- Maintain member and tourism websites
- Develop tourism guide, content, and distribution plan
- Engage target audiences through digital media that aligns with the Chamber’s brand identity
- Develop strong relationships with local media outlets to promote Chamber initiatives
- Provide monthly e-newsletter to Chamber members and a separate e-newsletter to tourism services subscribers with pertinent, engaging information
- Support area groups
Ideal Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with a Board of Directors or for a Chamber/Not-for-profit
- Knowledge of digital marketing tactics; Gmail, SEO, email marketing, social media, WordPress
- Bank reconciliation experience; Quickbooks not-for-profit Desktop
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, focusing on delivering exceptional customer service and building relationships
- Ability to prioritize tasks, problem-solve, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Salary: From $48,880.00 per year
