We are hiring one (1) Full Time, Permanent position working out of Kincardine, ON!
EPCOR Utilities Inc. in Ontario provides Natural Gas and power utility services in Collingwood, Aylmer and the region of South Bruce. The General Manager, Natural Gas is accountable for the development and safe, reliable and prudent operation and maintenance of the Natural Gas distribution utility (or utilities) in South Bruce (and Aylmer), Ontario.
This position requires travel between sites, with a requirement to stay overnight in Aylmer (London) for one to two nights per month.
The General Manager will be accountable for overall management of the utility (or utilities) including P&L responsibility, operations and asset management, and ensuring HSE, and operational targets are met or exceeded.
What you’d be responsible for
- Providing input to the Ontario region plans and directions as well as ensuring an appropriate understanding of the EPCOR Utilities and Ontario region strategy.
- Fostering and Maintaining strong working relationships between:
- EPCOR Utilities Inc., and EPCOR Natural Gas
- TSSA
- Local development community
- Ensuring Natural Gas operations remain in compliance with all local, provincial and federal regulatory requirements.
- Assessing competition and market opportunities, recommend appropriate plans to improve the operational effectiveness of the function and implement decided actions.
- Ensuring business plans and deliverables of direct report positions are aligned and integrated.
- Strategically planning and identifying for the necessary budget requirements and the provision of prudent asset management processes and practices.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining an appropriate organization design, which includes vertical and functional position alignment, clarity of accountabilities and authorities; matching people to positions; matching tasks to positions; and managerial leadership practices.
- Establishing, monitoring, measuring and reporting performance metrics.
- Analyzing and identifying issues influencing operational performance and establishing initiatives for continuous improvement to ensure financial performance, growth, customer satisfaction, operational effectiveness and efficiency, and employee satisfaction.
- Working in conjunction with the project Team Lead and Commercial Services project team in the development, design, construction, commissioning and start-up, and transfer-to-operations of potentially new Natural Gas distribution systems.
- Developing and nurturing a high performance, high discipline, safe, environmentally responsible, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.
What’s required to be successful
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of direct experience in the planning and development, administration, operation and maintenance of Natural Gas or related utility.
- 5+ years of experience directly supervising field, office and professional staff.
- Strong management skills in the areas of planning, prioritizing, organizing, analysis, problem solving, teamwork, and employee development.
- Progressive management, vision and drive to develop a Natural Gas distribution system, beginning with the initial phases of development.
- Working knowledge of design, construction, operation and maintenance of Natural Gas distribution systems or related systems.
- Strong financial aptitude to analyze opportunities, determine financial needs and manage risk.
- Working knowledge of financial rate regulation and rate-setting principals.
- Effective business partner with a strong business acumen.
- A demonstrated ability to lead and manage change.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to a wide range of audiences.
