General Metal Shop Warehouse Worker

Job Description

Metal Supermarkets is the worlds largest supplier of small quantity metals. We are looking for a full time employee that wants to work in a fast paced physical environment.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The primary job function is to prepare customer orders by cutting or shearing material to size, properly putting stock away when inventory is received, receiving and unload incoming material trucks, maintain an organized inventory, conduct regular inventory counts, maintain a clean safe organized work environment.

The secondary job function is to safely and courteously help customers in the shop identify material needs. Employee must arrive at work each day well groomed, rested and alert. This individual is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner conducive to maintaining effective customer/supplier relationships.

This job also requires occasional responsibilities - loading and unloading company vehicles to pick up or take materials to customers/vendors.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepare customer orders based on material and size.

*** Must be able to do math and utilize measuring tools such as a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer.

Requires lifting and or utilizing a lift truck to safely lift and manage material

Handle material such as metal bars and sheet metal.

Must be able to operate or be trainable on a metal band saw and metal shear.

Must be able to operate or be trainable on a forklift.

Provide proper basic maintenance of equipment and keep work area clean and safe for customers and other employees.

Receive, identify and stock incoming materials as per Receiving Procedures.

Perform other duties as directed by Store Manager/Sr. Customer Service Rep.

GED or high school diploma required.

Some experience with machines such as a table saw, band saw, or shear is preferred.

Experience in a machine shop or fabrication shop is a bonus.
