What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
  • provide technical expertise in the development, maintenance and utilization of natural resources databases
  • carry out a variety of data, technical and administrative duties, including field and office data collection projects, support of hardware and equipment maintenance
  • provide customer service to internal and external clients


How do I qualify?

Mandatory requirement:

  • You have a valid driver's licence to travel to the field to collect data.


Information Technology Knowledge:

  • You have a demonstrated ability to use Geographic Information System and Global Positioning System technologies and peripheral equipment (digitizers, printers, plotters, scanners and tape drives).
  • You have sound working knowledge of a variety of computer operating systems and applications related to resource management.
  • You have knowledge of standards and operating practices for information gathering (i.e. data collection, inventory techniques, data preparation and data entry/digitizing)


Natural Resources Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge and understanding of ecological principles and practices, resource and information management programs, and can interpret relevant acts and legislation including Occupational Health and Safety Act.


General Skills:

  • You have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve technical problems.
  • You have planning and coordinating skills to organize and coordinate human and equipment resources.
  • You have well developed interpersonal and communication skills to communicate and share information with staff and to prepare specialized reports, spatial analysis and queries.
