Bay of Quinte. We are located approximately 20 minutes from Belleville, ON and centrally located between
Toronto and Ottawa. There are approximately 11,000 registered members with approximately 2200 residing in

Position Summary:
The Gladue Aftercare Caseworker is responsible for effective and efficient casework management services and administration of the Gladue Aftercare Program in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures. The Gladue
Aftercare Worker is responsible for providing case and file management by assisting Indigenous clients to follow through with recommendations of their Gladue Report upon sentencing. The Gladue Aftercare Worker will provide direct services, and make necessary referrals to programs and services, within surrounding areas, corrections and in the community to ensure that clients receive services in a timely fashion. The Gladue Aftercare Worker will work in partnership with the Gladue Writer, Court Worker, Manager, Indigenous Courts and Restorative Justice, Youth
Justice Worker, Courts and/or Probation and Parole Services in providing necessary client input and updates as required.

Reporting:
This position will report to the Chief Administrative Officer.

Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Criminal Justice or Social Services, and
  • Minimum two years in social or justice services environment;
  • A combination of Education, Experience and Training may be considered
  • Experience in a First Nations setting preferred
  • Must provide a clear VSC (documentation will be required if successful applicant)
  • First Aid and CPR an asset (and must be willing to take the training if hired)
  • Valid Driver’s License and vehicle

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the judicial system, Criminal Code and other related federal and provincial statutes
  • Knowledge of relate court decisions regarding Indigenous persons
  • Knowledge of restorative justice program, alternative conflict resolution processes, family group conferencing, conventical court practices/diversion process
  • Knowledge of financial management
  • Knowledge of Haudenosaunee culture and teachings, knowledge of other Indigenous cultures and experience working with Indigenous persons; understanding of the northern cultural environment.
  • Experience in program delivery and administration.
  • Group facilitation, team building and decision-making skills; ability to problem solve and take initiative.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting.
  • Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills; excellent interviewing and counselling skills. High level of interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Effective crisis intervention skills.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including database applications.
  • Excellent case and file management skills, organizational skills stress management and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines.
