Applications are invited from teachers with
BC Certification for the following teaching position:
Alert Bay Elementary School, Alert Bay, BC
1.0 FTE Temporary - Grade 4-7 Multi-Grade Classroom
Commencing: ASAP until June 30, 2024
or until the return of the incumbent, whichever comes first
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
recent and successful intermediate classroom experience;
strong classroom management skills;
the ability and energy to meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
enthusiasm to work in a multi-graded classroom as part of a collaborative team in a community-centered school;
strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to communicate with students, staff and parents;
strong formative assessment practices;
experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems;
ability to integrate technology to enhance student learning;
strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and
ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.
The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $62,493 to $109,240, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $2,947 over ten months.
