ABOUT BEVO FARMS LTD.
Bevo Farms Ltd is the largest supplier of propagated plants in North America, providing greenhouses, field farms, nurseries, and wholesalers across the continent with healthy, vigorous, pest-and-disease-free plants. Bevo operates four facilities in the lower mainland of British Columbia and two facilities in the province of Alberta.
SUMMARY
We are looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals to work in our new Medicine Hat greenhouse facility to help bring the greenhouse to our operating standards.
This is a fast-paced environment where physical work is required. In this role, you will be required to do a range of tasks such as disassembling/assembling growing tables, setting up HVAC lines, building irrigation systems, all under the direction of a site supervisor/mechanical engineer. You will also assist in the general maintenance of the facility which will include preparation and overall upkeep of the site.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to adapt to greenhouse temperatures, be flexible to changing day-to-day tasks. It is in a climate-controlled environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform various physical tasks related to both facility maintenance and preparation of new greenhouse facility to support propagation of various crops
- Work under the direction of a site supervisor/mechanical engineer
- As facility becomes operational, labour could shift to supporting propagation of crops including picking and loading plants, plant maintenance, bay cleaning
- Assist in shipping and receiving as required
- Support inventory management and logistics
- Adhere to all hygiene and safety policies and procedures throughout the facility
- Maintain a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a willingness to follow direction
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- No formal education or prior experience required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Attention to detail
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- As facility becomes operational, ability to start working early mornings (5:30am)
- Must be able to work up to 50 hours per week
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Forklift certification considered an asset
