Groundskeeper/Maintenance Assistant

NATURE OF POSITION: Reporting to The Maintenance Supervisor, the Groundskeeper Maintenance Assistant is responsible for providing support and assistance in the areas of grounds keeping, building maintenance and security.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 2 years experience in general trades and experience in groundskeeping.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Grade 10 Diploma with emphasis on general trades, or an acceptable combination of training and experience; Criminal Record Check clearance; Class 4 Driver’s License; First Aid.

• An ability to function effectively within the Constitution and by-Laws of The Cridge Centre for the Family.

· An ability to be self-motivated and display initiative.

· An interest in learning new skills and acquiring knowledge.

· Sensitivity to the environmental dangers to the children, clients and residents.

· An ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Proven ability to be reliable and punctual.

· A mature interest in and understanding of the challenges faced by Cridge clients, residents and children.

· Experience and Ability in tree and plant care.

· A general ability to do a variety of trades not limited to just one or two.

· An interest in quality and detail.

• Experience with equipment and the care and safety of its use. Small engine maintenance and repair skills.

· Familiarity and experience in handling of chemical and hazardous materials (gasoline, spill cleanup, cleaning agents, janitorial supplies, etc).

· Ability to learn job-related material through oral instruction and observation.

· Work in different weather conditions with exposure to the elements.

· Comfortable with ladders and heights

· Must always be conscientiously aware of use of tools and equipment around clients, staff and visitors

· Ability to be flexible with shift changes for events or sick/vacation coverage.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $22.73 per hour
