A day in the role of a Care Associate at Devonshire Retirement Residence.
As a Care Associate at Devonshire Retirement Residence, you will be given high expectations, as well as an expectation to continue personal growth and professional growth. In this position, you will be gifted with a rewarding experience every day in the form of being able to see the exact impact you place on our residents.
As a Care Associate, you will report directly to the Director of Wellness. This position will be casual, so candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends, as well as a variety of shifts. Schedules will be provided. Shifts can be [enter shifts here].
The Care Associate is responsible for delivering care and services according to the policies of the community and aligned with but not limited to the Retirement Homes Act.
This position is responsible for but not limited to:
- Performs a wide variety of tasks that may include general housekeeping, laundry, recreational activities and providing general assistance with personal care and daily living activities of Residents,
- Provides direction and guidance to Residents in the provision of activities for daily living as per care plan,
- Monitors Resident’s level of wellness and responds to medical emergencies,
- Observing and reporting changes in the Resident’s physical and emotional condition to the Registered associates as required,
- Maintains effective communication with Residents, families and fellow associates,
- Promotes the Vision, Mission and Values of Lifetimes Living Inc. as well as the Residents’ Bill of Rights,
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- PSW Certificate is an asset
- Must be willing to be trained in Medication Administration
- Experienced in working with seniors in a Retirement Home setting,
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,
- Current CPR & First Aid Certificate,
- Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation,
- Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act,
- Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results less than 6 months old, must be able to provide three supervisory references.
