ROCK is looking to hire a full-time Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their team who is local to Kamloops and is interested in working in different construction and mining project locations, throughout British Columbia, and Canada.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes:
Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson’s Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy-Duty Technician Certification or eligibility to challenge the Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate.
- Valid and clean driver’s license
- Proven experience as a Mechanic/Technician or similar role
- Strong mechanical knowledge and skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proactive approach
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and proven experience with Drills and Hydraulics.
In particular, those with specific experience with the following will be given priority;
- SCH5000
- SD345/51
- Atlas Copco CM780
- Cubex QXR 920
- DML-HP
- Reedrill SKF
- Cat MD5150
Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader; adhere to and promote safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Perform duties ranging from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Check and diagnose faults (existing or potential) in construction, transport and mining equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, using hand and power tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Be proactive in preventative maintenance.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Service equipment attachments and working tools; occasionally attach and adjust components.
- Provide innovative solutions and best practices.
- Highlight discrepancies in equipment maintenance processes and educate workforce on preventative maintenance measures to be undertaken as part of daily/weekly routines.
- Maintain high levels of communication.
- Ensure reporting requirements are executed efficiently and within a timely manner.
Compensation
Full-time position with a competitive rate and benefit package, based on experience.
- Wage - negotiable: competitive rates based on experience with regular evaluations.
- 10% holiday pay, LOA for out-of-town work

Successful candidates will be required to complete project-specific online training and orientation, including D&A clearance.
