Job description

Heath Club Attendant
Town of Tillsonburg is looking for an enthusiastic Health Club Attendant that will be responsible for effectively supervising the Health Club and Members in a safe and enjoyable environment.
This is a seasonal student position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined pension plan.
Start date: June 17, 2024.
End date: September 1, 2024.
The hourly rate: $16.55.
Weekly hours: 40.
Openings: 1
A Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Open and close Health Club following procedures which may require 5:30am opening shifts and 9:00pm closing shifts during the week
  • Provide supervision for the Health Club, Lower Level, Pool change rooms, Squash and Tennis Courts as scheduled by Programs Supervisor
  • Operate lower level reception desk
  • Perform regular checks of Pool change rooms, Squash change rooms and Health Club change rooms following proper procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of programs offered at the Community Centre
  • Keep current on all the latest fitness trends
  • Able to provide generalized advice about healthy living
  • Ensure workout area is free from garbage and obstructions
  • Ensure cardio and weight equipment is clean and in safe working order
  • Report any maintenance concerns to the Programs Supervisor immediately
  • Regularly check the Squash and Tennis Courts
  • Attendants will be required to hand out squash and tennis keys should the Main Office be closed
  • Provide informative tours of the facility for interest or new members
  • Ensure that exercise equipment is being used properly at all times
  • Educate the patrons on weight training equipment procedures (i.e. do not leave weights on machines)
  • Ensure that all members wipe down equipment with disinfectant Ensure that all members swipe their membership card upon arrival. If a patron is not a member, the pay as you go fee must be paid before entrance. New patrons interested in trying our facilities may be given ONE free visit
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training sessions
  • Exercise good public relations with patrons and staff
  • When maintenance difficulties are being experienced ensure a professional typed sign is posted on the equipment and an ACR has been logged
  • In case of medical emergency follow First Aid emergency procedures
  • Fill out Incident Reports when required
  • Perform other duties as required and designated by the Programs Supervisor
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends
  • Wear Staff uniform while on duty (Staff T-Shirts, running shoes and proper gym attire)
Qualifications:
  • Standard First Aid + CPR
  • Interest in fitness with experience exercising in a fitness facility
  • Can-Fit-Pro PTS (or equivalent) or Fitness Training (“In House” training, or equivalent experience).
