- Performs basic diagnostics, repairs and reconditions customers’ equipment, pre-delivers new equipment for sale as well as reconditions used equipment for the dealership.

Job Duties:
- Reconditions and repairs machinery and equipment assigned for repair by the Service Manager.
- Diagnose trouble and plan methods in sequence of performing work required in a timely manner.
- Make sure all safety equipment is in order.
- Meet with customers to discuss the repair of the equipment in for Certified Maintenance Inspection(CMI). This involves doing the actual walk around with the customer prior to repairs.
- Pinpoint problems by discussing equipment operation with customers, visually checking and listening to machinery in operation, and using testing equipment.
- Take defective units apart and repair or replace broken, worn-out or faulty parts, reassemble, adjust, lubricate and test repaired units.
- Performs basic agricultural equipment diagnostics and determines what repairs are needed, if required.
- Performs other related service work as requested by the Service Manager – customer clinics, demos, new customer equipment orientation, etc.
- Account for all detailed time and materials used.
- Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
- Technician comments must be input on appropriate work order segments to account for time charged.
- Maintain a clean work area and perform miscellaneous duties associated with the job.
- Must always work in a safe way so as not to hurt themselves or others.
- Work with service management team in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of their department.
- Aid apprentice technicians for on-the-job training.
Job Requirements:
- Should have a good knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of agricultural equipment.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technician Manual procedures.
- Must know the details and constructions of many machines and have the knowledge and skill to make repairs properly.
- Familiarization with the testing equipment and diagnostic procedures, as well as maintaining proficiency will be required.
- The ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Must possess computer skills for the diagnostics of equipment.
- Must be able to deal with customers either in the shop or on the farm during field service calls.
- Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
- A valid driver’s license.
