Overview and Responsibilities
The Canadian Northern Society is seeking two Heritage Interpreters to assist in summer operations. The primary working location is at Camrose Heritage Railway Station and Park, with some work also taking place at Meeting Creek Railway and Linear Trails Historic Site. These positions are integral to keeping our sites open for the summer. The Heritage Interpreter is typically the first point of contact that visitors have with the Society, and as such is responsible for welcoming people and ensuring that their experience is positive. Primary duties of the position include providing interpretive tours, assisting with educational programming, helping to coordinate summer events, and general gardening and maintenance work. Other duties may be assigned that align with the successful candidates’ career goals and the Society’s needs.
Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidates will be excellent team players, willing to take initiative, and have a strong work ethic. Preference may be given to candidates who have experience or training in one or more of the following areas: customer service, Alberta history, gardening, drama, working with children, event planning, and/or social media. All qualified candidates are invited to apply; however, these positions are dependent on funding from Canada Summer Jobs, so candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30 and meet all other criteria of the program. Final offers of employment will not be made until funding is confirmed.
If you want to join an organization dedicated to preserving history and sharing it with the community, and gain rewarding experience in multiple areas, we encourage you to apply for this position.
