SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
To provide the clients with a clean, safe, neat and tidy environment to provide a “home-like” atmosphere. Provide quality housekeeping that meets the standards set out within the framework of Carefor policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management. Collaborates with the Hospice staff to meet the needs of individuals and attain an optimal level of cleanliness in the hospice environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Clean, dust, scrub or vacuum lounges, activity rooms, hallways and other common areas
· Collect garbage from all areas and deposit in the designated area, following WHMIS and
hazardous materials regulations
· Clean all washrooms according
· Keep housekeeping closet clean and tidy
· Clean rooms vacated by resident and/or prepare room for incoming resident as assigned.
· Maintains and orders supplies as required and according to proper procedures
· Follows infection control policies and procedures for housekeeping.
· Reports unsafe conditions or changes in client’s environment
· Report to the RN/RPN/PSW on duty any unusual behaviour and observations made with respect
to residents
· Works in collaboration with the maintenance department
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, CREDENTIALS
· Secondary school education preferred
· Previous housekeeping experience working in health care or hospital an asset
· Basic understanding of infection prevention and control
· 2 to 3 years’ previous housecleaning experience an asset
· Experience in light duty maintenance such as replacing burned out light bulbs, etc.
· Experience working with elderly/vulnerable sector
· Acceptable vulnerable sector background check
· Must be able to speak English, French is a strong asset
· Ability to work independently
· Ability to adjust to working with people of different background and abilities
· Available for 7 day a week operation with occasional flexible working hours
· Is required to:
· Use safe body mechanics for lifting
· bend, turn, squat on an ongoing basis
· stand, sit, kneel for short periods
· push or pull carts, lift furniture
· ability to lift 30lbs

Salary: $16.65-$20.81 per hour
