Job description

Human Resource and Safety Assistant (Part-time, On-site)

Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the Human Resource and Safety Assistant will provide assistance to the Human Resource Department and Health and Safety Department by providing administrative support for various Human Resource and Safety programs and procedures for all company employees.

Job Duties

  • Accurately maintain all employee data, such as: status changes, address, rate of pay, and benefits, incidents, disability claims, training, and Safety documentation, using Human Resource management system, and benefits program.
  • Manage Sunlife benefit claim inquiries and paperwork.
  • Track and prepare the Fitness Benefit program forms.
  • Enter applications into the applicant tracking system on a daily basis.
  • Assist with New Hire Orientation as required.
  • Prepare new hire packages, training packages and other documentation as required.
  • Explain company insurance policies and other benefits to employees.
  • Prepare and ensure completion of New Hire forms.
  • Assist in the organization of company programs and events.
  • Attend Job Fairs as necessary.
  • Complete employment verification forms and requests.
  • Maintain employee information boards and TV monitors as requested.
  • Monitor Performance Reviews in the Human Resource software.
  • File employee documentation into employee files.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education in business, administration, or Human Resources; or two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing office environment an asset.
  • Some knowledge and understanding of Employment Standards and Safety Regulations an asset.
  • Proficiency with administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office, and strong organizational skills.
  • Previous Human Resource data entry experience an asset.
  • Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Must be a highly motivated, self-directed, team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
  • Willing to training as required.

Working Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift 25lbs.
  • Travel as necessary (minimal local travel)
  • Ability to walk, climb stairs, stand, reach and use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
