We're seeking an energetic Human Resources professional who thrives in a fluid and entrepreneurial environment. This newly created position will report directly to the Controller with accountability to the President. Duties and Responsibilities:
Policy Development and Compliance:
- Develop, manage and maintain HR policies and HR procedures
- Ensure labour laws and industry regulations are followed and complied with
- Ensure employee handbook is applicable and up to date
Employee Relations:
- Act as a point of contact for employees, addressing queries, concerns, and providing guidance
- Mediate and resolve employee issues, ensuring a harmonious work environment
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and assist in the recruitment process, specifically for hourly employees, both in the branches and head office
- Facilitate onboarding, and support new employees during their integration
- Update and develop job descriptions for positions in Branches and Head office
Performance Management:
- Assist in the development and implementation of performance management processes
- Provide guidance to managers on performance reviews, feedback, and goal setting
Data Management:
- Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports as needed
Project Management:
- Spearhead HR related initiatives including researching, developing, and implementing
Payroll & Benefits:
- Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, administer day to day payroll items and group benefits.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in Human Resources; CPHR designation is an asset
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an HR Generalist position
- Experience in independently developing policies and procedures
- Strong experience in employee relations
- Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices
- Ability to work on day to day HR duties as well as ad-hoc initiatives as requested and required
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Strong Microsoft abilities, particularly Excel
- Previous experience in payroll is an asset
- Experience in health & safety is an asset
