Position: 'I Can Too!' Disability Education Assistant
Reporting to: 'I Can Too!' Disability Education Coordinator
Department: Employment and Educational Services
Responsibilities:
Working closely with the 'I Can Too!' Disability Education Coordinator, the 'I Can Too!' Disability Education Assistant will deliver a meaningful educational program to help create awareness and maximize opportunities for persons with disabilities throughout all of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The 'I Can Too!' Disability Education Assistant will support the following deliverables:
Promote 'I Can Too!' to elementary schools and community groups.
Responsible for the delivery of 'I Can Too!' presentations both in person and virtually.
Support 'I Can Too!' outreach initiatives, reaching many different areas throughout the province.
Maintain 'I Can Too!' kits, keeping them organized, reporting items that need to be replaced and offering
suggestions for new materials.
Communication with school representatives and community groups.
Provide a program survey to teachers/leaders, allowing feedback.
Keep a record of all information pertaining to where presentations were delivered and how many.

Excellent presentation skills; comfortable engaging with school aged children.
Display professionalism at all times, awareness that you are a representative of Easter Seals, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Ability to think on your feet and pivot when necessary.
Good communication skills: listening, speaking, writing.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to relate to clients, family members and the general public in a warm and professional manner, treating them with dignity and respect at all times.
Understanding of and ability to use Google Meet Video Conferencing Systems.

Background:
The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering information to children, gained through either pursuing/completion of a post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in education or through work/volunteer experience working with children/youth.
Please note this is a contractual position for 10 hours per week, beginning February 2023 and will end June 2023. The candidate must be available throughout the daytime hours, some accommodations can be provided based on previous commitments. We anticipate renewal of this position for September 2023, based on availability of new funding.
