Position: Industrial Cleaner
Reports To: Housekeeping Manager
General Outline Keep accommodations, office and administration buildings, dining room, common areas (lounges, washrooms & showers, mods, and weapons cleaning room) and any other areas as assigned in clean and orderly condition. Perform light and heavy cleaning duties while performing ongoing daytime cleaning of specified spaces, respond to spot clean ups as required, and complete regular checks and restocking of product dispensers, and washrooms as per scheduled cleaning at designated intervals (as per frequency chart) for all assigned teaching, administrative, recreational, and non-restricted space on the base.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean: rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms & ceilings, showers, water fountains, corridors, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas
- Floors: Sweep, damp mop, scrub, wax, and/or polish, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
- Carpets, Rugs & Mats: Vacuum, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers • Waste Receptacles & Ashtrays: empty, wash/damp wipe and disinfect, dispose trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and replace garbage bags for proper trash disposal • Water Fountains: wash and disinfect
- Windows: clean, wash and/or polish interior windows and windowsills, exterior windows including windows in doors
- Drapes & Blinds: dust and fix
- Doors, Door & Window Frames: clean and polish doors, handles, automatic door closers, push bars, kick plates and hand plates; dust grills and window frames
- Walls, Partitions & Baseboards: spot clean, spot wipe and dust
- Furniture & Fixtures: Clean, dust and sanitize surfaces and equipment
- Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
- Replenish supplies in washrooms (toilet paper, paper towel & hand soap) and VIP rooms (toiletries, linens, and towels)
- May assist with or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities
- Perform cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/ project requirements • Performs additional interior and exterior cleaning tasks on a monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis as assigned
Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service to a large-scale customer base, including all those who you encounter at the location
- Reinforce the importance of providing positive customer service; lead by example, acknowledge everyone with a smile, maintain eye contact, provide customers with sincere undivided attention
- Address customer complaints by following up with your manager immediately when concerns are brought to your attention
- Ensure areas are safe, clean, and well-organized to meet all customer, client and Company needs and requirements
- Maintain a professional visual presence in appropriate uniform attire as outlined in the Uniform, Dress Code & Personal Hygiene Policy
Skills and Responsibilities
- Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies as per Safety Data Sheets
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
- Ability to understand written and verbal communication • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures

Working Demand & Conditions
- Considerable physical activity which is a primary part (more than 80%) of the job
- Requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds such as full garbage bags and furniture • Physical requirements include standing, walking, lifting floor to waist (garbage bags/ debris), lifting waist to shoulder (putting product/items away), stair climbing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, stretching, reaching, bending, twisting, and crouching
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
- Predetermined deadlines occur frequently
- Fast paced environment
