Job Description

Our Technology Consultants act as the strategic advisor to our clients, helping them to review, plan, and implement proven technologies to enhance their organization’s effectiveness, reduce their risk, stay current with changing technology, and maintain quality relationships. In some businesses they might be called a vCIO, and while we expect a base level of technical knowledge, it’s being able to plan and think strategically, to connect with people, and to manage expectations that are most valuable. The tech knowledge can be learned, or supported through other team members… We’ve learned that most of our clients are looking for a business relationship and plain English conversations that help them achieve their goals and overcome challenges.

Our clients rely on our Technology Consultants to understand the big picture of how their organizations operate, their strategic goals, identify technical risk, and how technology can improve or add value to their operations. Following research, our Technology Consultants recommend Tier 3 I.T. Solutions' best practices and technology solutions that will help our clients achieve their business goals. Building relationships with our clients will translate to the Technology Consultants’ success in being able to deliver a world class client experience while keeping our clients protected and maintaining their operations.

Our Technology Consultants create business relationships with decision makers and acts as a gateway to a client's IT operating environment. Our Technology Alignment team performs regular reviews and passes recommendations to the Technology Consultant. This information helps the Technology Consultant to determine how to rank the best use of resources. Presenting strategy in a technology roadmap will lead to new projects. Projects are a permanent resolution to technology misalignment.

The essence of this role involves building strategic relationships and not gathering technical information. Focusing on business goals, prioritizing high-value tasks, and objective standards. Aiming to deliver a consistent process across all clients. The purpose of each strategy session is to plan budgets and identify business risk.

Primary function of the Technology Consultants:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Decision Makers at our clients
  • Perform Client Strategy Sessions
  • Sessions scheduled up to a year in advance with the clients
  • Unique Touchpoints to stay abreast of changes in the clients' business and experience with the Tier 3 IT team
  • Frequent check-ins with our clients to promote a positive business relationship
  • Collaborate with our clients in order to develop a technology roadmap

Qualifications, Experience, and Other Factors to Consider

The successful candidate will:

· Skillfully build and maintain relationships with a diverse client base.

· Be comfortable meeting with business owners and executives and will present a professional image of themselves and the company.

· Enjoy the challenge of translating technical status information into business focused objectives and solutions to problems our clients face.

· Be able to clearly articulate complex information using easily understood language, analogies, and examples.

· Have a broad base of professional experiences that helps them relate to business owners as a valued consultant.

· Be an expert communicator who successfully connects with a variety of personalities within the client base.

· Enjoy coordinating various activities to positive outcomes for the involved parties, both internal and external.

· Think and act strategically, aligning clients to achieve their long-term technological objectives so that they can improve their business performance and lower risk over time. All while balancing the short term needs and demands of supporting those clients.

· Live in the greater Edmonton area

· Have an appropriate location for a home office (company devices will be provided)

· Be willing to travel to and visit clients in person regularly (a company vehicle will be provided)
