Intent of the process

Intent to fill one (1) indeterminate position in IQALUIT, NUNAVUT. Telework is not being considered for this position. Applicants are encouraged to apply only if they are willing and able to work in or relocate to Iqaluit.
A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff this position or similar positions or for future term, acting, assignment, secondment, deployment, or indeterminate opportunities.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, Information Technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

  • Recent experience in end-user IT equipment, including computer hardware and software. Experience should be in support of an enterprise networked environment
  • Recent experience troubleshooting workstation and printer connectivity issues in an enterprise networked environment
  • Recent experience with helpdesk, desk-side or field support for end-user IT equipment;
  • Recent experience supporting a Microsoft enterprise environment
  • Recent experience in report writing.

Successful completion of a university degree of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information systems technology, information management, or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Conditions of employment

RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance
Must be willing and able to work in confined spaces.
Must be willing and able to travel from worksite for extended periods, and on short notice.
Must be willing and able to work outside of normal core hours, when required and on short notice.
Must be willing and able to travel via commercial and RCMP transportation, including RCMP aircraft.
Willingness and ability to travel throughout the service area (Nunavut) for extended period of time as required, sometimes on short notice and often by small plane to remote sites.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Meet and maintain the medical profile standards established for the position and any additional medical requirements for isolated posts, in accordance with the National Joint Council Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive
